Time is running out to file a claim on the Hudson’s Bay data breach case

If you have been following our blog or representative cases for the past few months, you are already aware of the In re Hudson’s Bay Company Data Security Settlement case. This is a security breach case in which those who have been harmed can obtain compensation.

If you are one of the people who might be eligible for compensation, you need to act fast, as time is running on filing your claim.

The case in brief

There was a data breach in 2017 and 2018 in which many customers of Saks, Saks OFF 5TH, or Lord & Taylor who used any type of credit card or debit card (other than a Saks First credit card) had their information and financial security compromised by the breach. In fact, there are many people in that situation who lost significant assets as a result of the breach.

What you need to know

Some critical pieces of information for those who might be eligible:

  • Eligibility: You could be eligible for compensation if you used one of the above noted cards at a Saks, Saks OFF 5th or Lord & Taylor store between May 1,2017 and April 1, 2018.
  • Compensation: You could be compensated up to $5,000 for documented unreimbursed out of pocket expenses arising from the breach and $30 cash for time spent monitoring or addressing the issue.
  • When: There is a final approval hearing on the settlement scheduled for January 11, 2022.

Time is of the essence

The most important thing to keep in mind is that the deadline for filing your claim is January 31, 2022. That is the end of the first month of next year, and it is rapidly approaching.
