Carolina Behavioral Health Alliance (CBHA) is a third-party administrator responsible for managing medical benefits for various organizations’ health plan participants. On March 20, 2022, CBHA experienced a data breach that compromised personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) of 130,922 health plan participants. The compromised PII/PHI included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, dates of service, level of care, provider names and health plan identification information. On July 1, 2022, letters were sent to affected individuals and the breach was submitted to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
