Ahold Delhaize USA Services, LLC Data Breach Investigation

Ahold Delhaize USA Services, LLC is the American branch of one of the largest food retailers operating worldwide. Ahold Delhaize services Giant Food, Food Lion, and Stop & Shop in the US. On November 5, 2024, the company experienced a significant ransomware attack on its internal systems, reportedly affecting 2,241,521 current and former employees. Ahold Delhaize reported this attack to the Maine Attorney General’s Office on June 26, 2025, and began sending data breach notifications to affected individuals shortly thereafter. This cyber-attack accessed both personally identifiable information (“PII”) and personal health information (“PHI”) including, but not limited to: names, dates of birth, social security numbers, other government issued ID numbers, financial account data, health information, and employment-related information. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons, Ahold Delhaize did not notify victims until almost 7 months after the incident.
