On June 14, 2024 the Association of Texas Professional Educators (“ATPE”) announced a breach affecting 426,280 individuals. The affected individuals are former and current employees, dependents of employees, and “ATPE” members who joined before May 15, 2021. The date of the breach by an unauthorized character remains unreported; however, “ATPE” did experience suspicious activity on its network on February 12, 2024. Written notification was sent to affected individuals and the letter lists the types of personally identifiable information (“PII”) and protected health information (“PHI”) that was compromised. The list includes individuals’ names; addresses; Social Security numbers/and or Tax Identification Numbers; dates of birth; passport numbers; driver’s license numbers/state-issued identification cards; financial information; and medical records.
