South Texas Oncology and Hematology Group (“ Group”) Data Breach Investigation

The South Texas Oncology and Hematology Group includes the following entities: South Texas Oncology and Hematology, PA; South Texas Accelerated Research and Therapeutics LLC(“START’”); START Midwest LLC (partnering with Cancer and Hematology Centers, Grand Rapids); and START Mountain Region LLC (partnering with Utah Cancer Specialists). The “Group” provides cancer treatment and clinical trials. Reportedly, the “Group’s” network was breached on October 20, 2023 and the breach was discovered on February 15, 2024. On or about June 13, 2024, the “Group” started issuing notification letters to the 176,303 affected individuals. According to the letter, the information that was compromised during the breach included the name of individual, date of birth, Social Security number, address, medical information, and health insurance information.
