Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation (WPS) Data Breach Investigation

On September 6, 2024 the Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation (WPS) announced that nearly 947,000 individuals had some of their protected health information (PHI) and personally identifiable information (PII) compromised in the May 2023 Progress Software MOVEit security breach. WPS provides administrative services to The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in connection with the handling of claims. The compromised information may include names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, gender, hospital account number, dates of service, and Medicare beneficiary identifier or health insurance claim number.
