Boston Children’s Health Physicians (“BCHP”) Data Breach Investigation

Boston Children’s Health Physicians (“BCHP”) has 55 pediatric practices across New York and Connecticut with locations in Rockland County, NY; Putnam County, NY; Westchester County, NY; Orange County, NY; Dutchess County, NY; The Bronx, NY; Fairfield County, CT; and, Suffolk County, NY. On September 6, 2024, “BCHP” was informed by its IT vendor that the vendor’s network had experienced a security incident. Four days later, “BCPH’s” network was breached compromising its patients’ personally identifiable information (“PII”) and protected health information (“PHI”). The “PII” and “PHI” included patients’ names, Social Security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, medical record numbers, health insurance information, billing information, and/or limited treatment information. Reportedly, BCHP began mailing notification letters to patients affected by the breach on October 4, 2024.
