Form I-9 Compliance, LLC Data Breach Investigation

All U.S. employers must properly complete a Form I-9 for every individual they hire for employment in the United States. Form I-9 Compliance is a service provider that assists its business clients in completing Form I-9 documents. On or about February 5, 2024, the network of Form I-9 Compliance was breached exposing personally identifiable information (“PII”) of 193,612 individuals. The compromised information included name, address; Social Security Number; date of birth; driver’s license number; government-issued ID number (e.g. passport, state ID card); financial information (e.g. account number, credit or debit card number); and more. Though the breach was discovered on April 12, 2024, in most cases, individuals were not notified of the breach until November 7, 2024.
