Synapse Financial Technologies, Inc. (“Synapse”) acted as a middleman for fintech companies and banks. It was responsible for opening deposit accounts, processing transactions and managing account ledgers for its partner banks and fintech clients. Some of its partner banks included Evolve Bank and Trust, AMG National Trust, Lineage Bank and American Bank Inc.; other clients included Juno and Yotta. Soon after “Synapse” filed for bankruptcy in April 2024, customers found themselves without access to funds, and they later learned “Synapse” and its partners had failed to keep accurate fund balances.
