Richmond University Medical Center (“RUMC”)(Staten Island) Data Breach Investigation

On or about May 6, 2023, “RUMC” network was breached resulting in exposure of 674,000 patients’ personally identifiable information (“PII”). The “PII” included full names and one or more or the following: Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers or state identification numbers, other government identification numbers, financial account information, credit or debit card information, biometric information, user credentials, medical treatment and diagnosis information, and health insurance policy information. Though the breach occurred in May 2023, notice about the breach was not mailed to compromised individuals until December 19, 2024.
