Pennsylvania State Education Association (“PSAE”) Data Breach Investigation

Pennsylvania State Education Association (“PSAE”) is reportedly the largest public sector union in Pennsylvania. Its members include K-12 teachers, education support staff, higher education faculty, nurses in healthcare facilities, retired educators, and college students studying to become teachers. On July 6, 2024, an unauthorized party gained access to PSAE’s network compromising personally identifiable information and protected health information of 517,487 individuals. The compromised information included Date of Birth, Driver’s License or State ID, Social Security Number, Account Number, Account PIN, Security Code, Password and Routing Number, Payment Card Number, Payment Card, PIN and Payment Card Expiration Date, Passport Number, Taxpayer ID Number, Username and Password, Health Insurance Information and Medical Information. On or about March 17, 2025, notification letters were sent to affected individuals.
