Sunflower Medical Group Data Breach Investigation

Sunflower Medical Group is a healthcare provider with offices in Kansas City, Lenexa and Roeland Park, Kansas. The practice specializes in pediatrics, internal medicine, family practice, and obstetrics and gynecology. In a March 7, 2025 notification letter, the practice informed individuals about a December 15, 2024 breach of its network that compromised the individuals’ personally identifiable information and protected health information. The compromised information included individuals’ names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, drivers’ license numbers, medical information, and health Insurance information. According to a report filed with a state attorney general, nearly 221,000 individuals had their data compromised.
