Watsonville Community Hospital Data Breach Investigation

On Behalf of | Mar 25, 2025 | Health & Safety |

Watsonville Community Hospital is a healthcare provider serving Monterey Bay, Central Coast and Santa Cruz County California. On or about November 29, 2024, the hospital experienced a cybersecurity event; and, since the event, some employees have reported fraudulent tax filings made in their name. Other employees have reported attempts made to do the same. According to the hospital’s ”Notice of Privacy Incident” dated 12/31/2024, the following personally identifiable information (“PII”) was potentially compromised: name, date of birth, Social Security number, passport number, and diagnosis information. When considering the possibility of diagnosis information being divulged and reports that patient information has been found on the dark web, there is potential that patients’ PII was compromised in addition to employees’ PII. To date, notification letters have not been sent to affected individuals. If you or someone you know receives a notification letter about the data breach or suspects their PII was compromised and would like additional information about your or their legal rights, you can contact Goldenberg Schneider, LPA by calling 513-982-1569, sending an email to [email protected] or completing the “Contact Us” form to the right.
