Laboratory Services Cooperative (“LSC”) Data Breach Investigation

Laboratory Services Cooperative (“LSC”) provides testing services to select Planned Parenthood (“PP”) centers in Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, and Washington, also known as “Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawaii, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky or “PPGNWHAIK.” There may be other “select Planned Parenthood centers” to which LSC provides services including centers in Texas, Massachusetts and California. LSC experienced a data breach that compromised the personally identifiable information (“PII”) and protected health information (“PHI”) of 1,600,000 patients and employees. This includes employees’ dependents or beneficiaries if that information was provided to LSC. The compromised information includes names, Social Security Numbers, dates of birth, addresses, driver’s license or state ID numbers, passport numbers, phone numbers, emails, demographic data, student ID numbers, other forms of government identifiers, date(s) of service, diagnoses, treatments, medical record numbers, lab results, patient/accession numbers, provider names, treatment locations, and related-care details, health insurance information, claim numbers, billing details, bank account details (including bank names, account numbers, and routing numbers), billing codes, payment card details, balance details, and similar banking and financial information. The date of the breach has not been disclosed; however, the breach was discovered on October 27, 2024. In general, organizations are required to provide breach notifications within 30 days after the breach was discovered.
