Nationwide Recovery Service, Inc.(“NRS”) Data Breach Investigation

Nationwide Recovery Service, Inc. (“NRS”) is a debt collector for healthcare providers including Hamilton County Emergency Services (“EMS”) (TN), Vitruvian Health dba Hamilton Health Care System, Inc. (TN and GA), Rhea Medical Center (TN), Select Medical Holdings, and Erlanger Health (TN). On or about July 14, 2024, NRS notified Hamilton County, TN about a cybersecurity incident that was considered to be ongoing. It was later determined an unauthorized party gained access to NRS’ network between July 5, 2024 and July 11, 2024. Hamilton County received an update from NRS about the breach in February 2025; however, Hamilton County did not confirm the breach until April 7,2025. Rhea Medical Center did not announce the breach until April 16, 2025, and Vitruvian Health dba Hamilton Health Care System, Inc., did not report the breach until April 15,2025. Notification letters sent to at least 114,431 affected individual stated some of the following personally identifiable information was compromised : names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account information, and medical information.
