Yahoo, Inc. Tracking Technology Investigation

On Behalf of | May 5, 2025 | Firm News |

It’s been alleged that, since 2020, Yahoo has been utilizing technology that tracks internet users across platforms and devices. When a user creates certain online accounts using their email address, unbeknownst to the user, the site may be set up to use Yahoo’s tracking technology. Allegedly, one site using the technology is CBS Sports. Other sites that may be using the tracking technology are: (1) Realtors; (2) HuffPost; (3) US Magazine; (4) WebMD; (5) Booking.com; (6) Airbnb.com; and (7) Kayak. When the user logs into the online sites using his or her email address, Yahoo intercepts the email address and connects it to the tracking technology. With the Yahoo tracking technology and other forms of technology in place, data is created about the user and the user becomes a target for advertisements related to their interests. If you believe you may be potentially affected by the tracking technology (e.g., have an online account with CBS Sports or one of the other sites listed above), and would like additional information about your legal rights, you can contact Goldenberg Schneider, LPA by calling 513-982-1569, sending an email to [email protected] or completing the “Contact Us” form to the right.
