AFLAC Inc. Cyberattack and Data Breach Investigation

On Behalf of | Jun 25, 2025 | Firm News |

According to a notification posted on the AFLAC website, an unauthorized party gained access to its network on or about June 12, 2025. It is likely that this event will expose customers’ and employees’ personal information. In fact, the website notification states potentially affected files contained customers’, beneficiaries’, employees’, and agents’ social security numbers, claims information, health information, and/or other personal information. The attack was allegedly led by a cybercriminal group known as Scattered Spider. In November 2023, the FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency issued a joint Cybersecurity Advisory (“CSA”) encouraging large companies and their contracted information technology help desks to implement recommendations found in the mitigations section of its CSA. The purpose of the CSA was to reduce the likelihood and impact of a cyberattack by Scattered Spider actors. If you have been a customer, beneficiary, employee or agent of AFLAC and have received an email about the security event or have concerns that your personal information may have been compromised and you would like additional information about your legal rights, you can contact Goldenberg Schneider, LPA by calling 513-982-1569, sending an email to [email protected] or completing the “Contact Us” form to the right.
