Erie Insurance Cyberattack and Data Breach Investigation

On Behalf of | Jun 19, 2025 | Firm News |

According to Erie Insurance Company’s website and a report filed with the Securities Exchange Commission, the auto, home, life and business insurer has experienced an information security event. Unusual network activity was identified on June 7, 2025 and has persisted until at least the date of this posting. Although the insurer denies knowledge of ransomware or ongoing threat actor activity, it is not uncommon for breached entities to only learn that personally identifiable information (“PII”) has been compromised long after the event. Breached information could include PII like names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. By the time it’s determined that PII was breached, the breached data may already be posted on the dark web. If you have been a customer or employee of Erie Insurance Company or Erie Indemnity Company and have received an email about the security event or have concerns that your PII may have been compromised and you would like additional information about your legal rights, you can contact Goldenberg Schneider, LPA by calling 513-982-1569, sending an email to [email protected] or completing the “Contact Us” form to the right.
