Fairmont Federal Credit Union (FFCU) is a non-profit organization, with 9 branches throughout West Virginia, that assists with business/personal loans, mortgages, financial aid, personal checking/savings, etc. On September 30, 2023, FFCU experienced a breach of its internal systems that was not discovered until January 24, 2024. The breach affected the personally identifiable information (PII) and personal health information (PHI) of at least 187,038 victims. PII and PHI involved includes, but is not limited to name, DOB, social security number, drivers’ license numbers, medical and health insurance information, financial account information, etc. Also noteworthy, FFCU did not report the breach or begin sending notification letters to affected individuals via mail, until September 11, 2025, almost 2 years after the initial incident, leaving victims at greater risk. If you or someone you know receives a notification letter about the data breach and would like additional information about your legal rights, you can contact Goldenberg Schneider, LPA by calling 513-982-1569, sending an email to [email protected] or completing the “Contact Us” form to the right.
