Wayne Memorial Hospital (“WMH”) recently filed a report with several state agencies about a breach it experienced more than a year ago. Specifically, between May 30, 2024 and June 3, 2024, an unauthorized party gained access to WMH’s systems which made personally identifiable information (“PII”) and protected health information (“PHI”) available to cybercriminal(s). The PII and PHI included 163,440 patient names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers, user identification and passwords, financial account numbers, credit or debit card numbers, credit card expiration dates and CVV codes, Medicare and Medicaid numbers, health insurance member numbers, healthcare provider numbers, diagnoses, medical histories, treatment information, prescription information, and lab test results or images. Beginning August 27, 2025, WMH began mailing notification letters to individuals affected by the breach. If you or someone you know receives a notification letter about the data breach and would like additional information about your legal rights, you can contact Goldenberg Schneider, LPA by calling 513-982-1569, sending an email to [email protected] or completing the “Contact Us” form to the right.
