Marquis Data Breach Investigation

Marquis Software Solutions (‘Marquis’) is a third-party vendor of digital and physical communications technology to over 700 financial institutions across the U.S. On November 30th, 2025, Marquis notified the South Caroline Attorney General’s Office of a data breach that occurred on August 14th, 2025. Although the exact number of those impacted is currently unknown, the breach impacted 84,721 South Carolinians alone. Additionally, financial institutions that utilized Marquis’ services—including 1st MidAmerica Credit Union (131,000 impacted by the breach), Norway Bank (51,000 impacted by breach), Community 1st Credit Union (6,876 impacted by breach), and CoVantage Credit Union (160,000 impacted by the breach) —were also breached, exposing valuable personally identifiable information (‘PII’). Potentially compromised PII includes, but is not limited to: Names, Addresses, Dates of Birth, Phone Numbers, Financial Information, and Social Security Numbers.
