VITAS Hospice Services (‘VITAS’) Data Breach Investigation

With over 50 locations, VITAS Hospice Services (“VITAS”) is the largest for-profit hospice company in the United States. VITAS experienced a data breach in which an unauthorized user had access to its systems from September 21, 2025 to October 27, 2025. During this time, the unauthorized user downloaded files containing the Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) and Personal Health Information (“PHI”) of an undisclosed number of past and present VITAS patients. At risk PII and PHI includes, but is not limited to, names, addresses, social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, medical information, and dates of birth.
