Abri Credit Union Data Breach Investigation

On Behalf of | Jan 15, 2026 | Firm News |

Abri Credit Union (“ACU”) is a “leading provider of banking services” with a main location in Romeoville, Illinois. ACU provides various financial/banking services to customers across the state. On December 30, 2025, ACU gave notice of a data security incident affecting its servers that occurred between May 3, 2024, and May 5, 2024. This incident jeopardized the personally identifiable information (“PII”) and personal health information (“PHI”) of at least 211,749 current and former customers. PII and PHI at risk includes, but is not limited to, names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state ID numbers, financial account information, payment card numbers, medical information, health insurance information, digital signatures, and birth/marriage certificates. Unfortunately, ACU did not report the incident until nearly 20 months after its occurrence, potentially too late to mitigate the damage caused by the breach. If you or someone you know receives a notification letter about the data breach and would like additional information about your legal rights, you can contact Goldenberg Schneider, LPA by calling 513-982-1569, sending an email to [email protected] or completing the “Contact Us” form to the right.
