Its parent company Hightower Holding, LLC (“Hightower”) operates several subsidiaries in addition to Hightower Advisors: Hightower Securities, LLC and Hightower Trust Company, N.A. Through these subsidiaries, Hightower offers financial and retirement planning, wealth management, and related services. Hightower recently experienced a data incident that may have exposed the sensitive information of 131,483 Hightower customers.
On January 9, 2026, Hightower learned of suspicious activity within its network. An investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor compromised a user account and accessed Hightower’s network environment. Between January 8, 2026, and January 9, 2026, the unauthorized party downloaded certain files without the company’s permission. Hightower became aware of another compromised user account on January 19, 2026. An additional investigation concluded that an unauthorized actor again accessed Hightower’s network environment. Between January 19, 2026, and January 20, 2026, the unauthorized party downloaded additional files without the company’s permission. Consequently, some customers’ Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) was compromised. According to available court filings, the compromised PII includes, but is not limited to, names, social security numbers, and driver’s license numbers.
