Vertex Data Breach Investigation

Vertex Inc. (“Vertex”) is a Pennsylvania-based provider of technology and software solutions designed to assist businesses with the collection of sales and value-added taxes. According to publicly available reports, the ShinyHunters threat group has claimed responsibility for a cyberattack targeting Vertex. The alleged breach appeared on the group’s dark web leak site on or about March 9, 2026. Reports indicate the incident may involve more than 2 million records, including personally identifiable information (“PII”) and internal corporate data. At this time, the full scope of the breach and the categories of information involved have not been independently verified.
