Kemper Corporation Data Breach Investigation

On Behalf of | Apr 24, 2026 | Firm News |

Through its family of companies, Illinois-based Kemper Corporation (“Kemper”) is a leading insurance provider. It recently experienced a data security incident that potentially compromised sensitive information belonging to an undisclosed number of Kemper employees and customers.

On April 15, 2026, a hacking group called ShinyHunters posted to the Dark Web data they claim to have stolen from Kemper. ShinyHunters says it took 29GB of Kemper data. Technology news outlet CyberNews evaluated the data sample ShinyHunters published and saw what appears to be employee email addresses, employee full names, employee roles, customers’ full names, timestamps, amounts of money paid, and whether transactions were canceled. It is important to note that CyberNews could not confirm this data came from Kemper. However, the outlet contacted Kemper for comment, and a Kemper representative explained they “recently became aware of a cybersecurity incident and immediately began a thorough investigation with the help of third-party cybersecurity experts, and notified law enforcement. There has been no disruption to our operations or our ability to serve our customers. Our investigation remains ongoing.”

Goldenberg Schneider, LPA is investigating this incident given the potential that it compromised some Kemper employees’ and customers’ Personally Identifiable Information. If you are a Kemper employee or receive a data breach notification letter from Kemper, you can contact Goldenberg Schneider, LPA for additional information about your legal rights by calling 513-982-1569, sending an email to [email protected] or completing the “Contact Us” form to the right.
