The Beacon Mutual Insurance Company (“BMIC”) provides workers’ compensation insurance to businesses in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. It recently experienced a data security incident, potentially exposing the sensitive information of over 162,000 BMIC policy holders.
On January 14, 2026, BMIC discovered suspicious activity within its network environment. An investigation revealed that an unauthorized third-party gained access to
some BMIC systems between January 7 and January 14, 2026, and acquired copies of certain files. Consequently, the breach compromised some policy holders’ Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”). The impacted PII includes, but is not limited to, names, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license details.
If you receive a BMIC breach notification letter, you can contact Goldenberg Schneider, LPA for additional information about your legal rights by calling 513-982-1569, sending an email to [email protected] or completing the “Contact Us” form to the right.
