SouthState Bank Data Breach Investigation

SouthState Bank services customers in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. SouthState’s network experienced unauthorized access to certain folders on February 7, 2024, and the access compromised names, financial information and Social Security numbers of more than 840,000 individuals. The breach was reported to the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs on May 24, 2024 along with a template notification letter expected to be sent to victims of the breach.
