Goldenberg Schneider, LPA is currently investigating a data breach involving Eye Care Leaders, an electronic medical record vendor that acted as a third-party vendor to a growing list of eye care providers. Eye Care Leaders, as the third-party vendor, had in its possession the personally identifiable information (“PII”) and protected health information (“PHI”) of eye care providers. Currently, it’s believed at least 342,000 patients of the eye care providers had their PII and PHI compromised due to Eye Care Leader’s network being hacked on December 4, 2021. The PII and PHI included names, addresses, phone numbers, SSNS, DOBs, medical treatment and diagnosis information. On March 1, 2022, Eye Care Leaders provided notification to its eye care providers; in turn, the eye care providers notified their patients beginning in late April 2022.
