Pathward, N.A. (re: H&R Block Emerald Card)/ Fidelity National Information Services, Inc./ Progress Software Data Breach Investigation

H&R Block Emerald Cards are issued by Pathward, N.A. and Fidelity National Information Services (“FNIS”) provided processing and technology services in support of the Emerald Card. On or about May 27, 2023, a vulnerability was discovered in the file transfer tool used by FNIS. The file transfer tool is known as MOVEit Transfer, and it is produced by Progress Software. As a result of the vulnerability, personal information of 793,626 individuals was compromised and the personal information included names, address, Social Security number, date of birth, driver’s license number, email address, phone number, Emerald Card number, card account number, and card expiration date. On July 12, 2023, Pathward N.A. learned from FNIS that personal information had been breached due to the Progress MOVEit vulnerability discovered on May 27, 2023; however, Pathward N.A. did not begin notifying compromised individuals until September 27, 2023.
