Nearly 7 million individuals had their personally identifiable information (“PII”) and protected health information (“PHI”) exposed due to Delta Dental of California’s use of MOVEit Transfer, a file transfer application produced by Progress Software. A vulnerability was discovered in MOVEit Transfer on or about May 27, 2023; and, on July 6, 2023, Delta Dental of California learned “PII” and “PHI” on the MOVEit platform had been accessed and acquired. The compromised information includes names addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers or other state identification numbers, passport numbers, financial account information, tax identification numbers, individual health insurance policy numbers, and/or health information. Notification letters were sent to affected individuals on December 14, 2023.
